Tip Health Insurance Scheme in Malaysia:
Show Concerns We
By: M. Afnan Khalid
Implementation of the Health Insurance Program by the Malaysian government is said to take effect next year. This is according to a forum that was held to deny it in Siswazah Center, Universiti Malaya on 11 December 2006. The forum urged the government to get feedback from the people before it was announced in parliament. This is supported by the United Perubatan Malaysia (MMA). Implementation is also closely related to the issue of privatization of health services. Certainly there are good and bad. Malaysian government still has not issued an official statement regarding perlaksaannya although requested by several parties (so the article was written - 2006).
What would happen if the system is implemented? Why be concerned?
To answer this question, I include an article issued by the Malaysian National News Pertubuhan (Bernama), the news reads as follows:
Privatization of health care burden of patients have
WASHINGTON: Step menswastakan Malaysian health care system needs to be made after weighing the virtues users who may be victims of insurance companies are not responsible, if he was not controlled.
Researchers from the University of Malaya, Dr Nik Rosnah Wan Abdullah who was here to compare the Malaysian health care system with the United States says the system used in that country can not be used in Malaysia.
"When private health insurance companies carefully managed at the federal level and state of the United States, health insurance is still expensive and not able to subscribe to approximately 45 million from the American people themselves," he said.
Dr Nik Rosnah is an international right felo Institute of Policy Studies, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, under the Fulbright program. In Malaysia, health care to approximately 900,000 government-funded public staff.
After all, the problem of too many patients in public hospitals, long waiting times and doctor shortages caused many users of the rich and middle class to complete their health care insurance.
"I had to wait a year to get a mammogram exam services, so I paid RM400 to a private hospital for that service on the same day. Unfortunately he was not replaced (by the insurance company).
"The problem is that most private health insurance companies are not controlled, causing many complaints arising users," said Dr Nik Rosnah here, last night. - Bernama
Governor of Bank Negara, Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, before it gives 20 percent of the complaints about the insurance industry involves health insurance.
"Many insurance companies are deceptive in Malaysia. We have heard about the charges were not explained, many things are not protected and the information provided they are not transparent," he said.
Meanwhile, for the poor who work in the informal sector such as farmers and small traders, they will be allowed to handle their own problems if a family member who fell ill.
"A lot of what we read in newspapers about people who ask for help busy people because it requires contributions to a major operation or treatment of disease," he said. - Bernama

Please note the statements in this Bernama news:
"Health insurance is expensive and not able to subscribe to approximately 45 million of the American people themselves".
I am very worried, and I also hope my friends worry, if one day we come to a patient who complained the problem, but can not be treated. This is because there is no health insurance policies that protect.
That's what I've deliberately highlighted by the film John Q Denzel Washington's acting. The film was directed to the American people are faced with this issue. In the film, Denzel Washington, as John Q who played a father figure, facing difficulties to perform the transfer operation jangtung for children. This is because the police insurannya no provision to pay for heart surgery, and he did not realize this. The situation became worse because the hospital did not want to do the surgery because it can not Jonh Q. Finally he was forced to threaten the hospitals to ensure their children receive treatment.
Turned to the impression of this issue, as well dalah impression of poor-rich gap that will increasingly apparent. The doctor and the doctor may not be impressed because we are "happy". But we will be impressed if we are also people who "are concerned".
